Leather Care Guide

Magda’s Leather furniture is crafted from the finest full-aniline leathers, prized not only for their natural beauty but also for their durability and graceful ageing. With simple, regular care, your piece will continue to evolve and develop character for many years to come.

Understanding Our Leather

Our leather is known for its aesthetic appeal but also for its resilience. Each piece features a robust, yet supple finish that becomes uniquely personal as it softens and ages. Whether you choose our full-grain, aniline, or pull-up leather, you can expect a material that is naturally durable, breathable and easy to maintain.

You may notice subtle variations in tone, markings or texture, these are not imperfections, but the hallmarks of genuine leather, celebrated for its individuality.

Everyday Leather Care

1. Regular Dusting

  • Gently dust your leather with a soft, dry cloth or a vacuum fitted with a soft brush attachment.

  • This prevents dust and grit from settling into the natural grain.

2. Wipe Spills Promptly

  • For liquid spills, blot (do not rub) with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Avoid soaking the leather, water left to sit may cause marks.

3. Keep it Breathable

  • Leather benefits from breathing, avoid plastic covers or prolonged contact with synthetic materials.

Placement & Environment

1. Avoid Direct Sunlight

  • Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading or drying.

  • Position your furniture where it enjoys natural light without constant, harsh exposure.

2. Maintain Stable Humidity

  • Extremely dry environments can cause leather to stiffen or crack.

  • Use a humidifier in dry climates if needed, particularly during winter months.

3. Keep Clear of Heat Sources

  • Maintain at least 30 cm between your leather furniture and heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces.

Conditioning Your Leather

1. When to Condition

  • Depending on your home environment and how often the piece is used, conditioning is recommended once or twice per year.

2. Choosing the Right Conditioner

  • Use a high-quality leather conditioner suitable for full-aniline or pull-up leather.

  • Avoid waxes, oils or silicone-based products, which can alter the finish.

3. Application

  • Always test the conditioner on a hidden area first.

  • Apply sparingly with a soft cloth, following the product instructions.

  • Allow to dry naturally.

What to Avoid

  • Do not use household detergents, solvents, alcohol-based cleaners or abrasive cloths.

  • Avoid sharp objects (including belt buckles or pet claws) which can damage the surface.

  • Do not over-saturate leather with water or cleaning products.

Patina & Natural Ageing

One of the great pleasures of owning genuine leather is observing how it ages.
Over time, your furniture will develop a rich patina, softening in feel and deepening in tone, telling the story of its place in your home. This is not wear, but part of the timeless character of true leather.
